30 things

  1. I have a wonderful husband, Bas
  2. When I was 5 I knew that I wanted to be a teacher and I have been one since 2001.
  3. When people meet me they usually say that I should have been a TV presenter. I missed my opportunity. Blue Peter would have been great.
  4. I love chocolate
  5. I was ‘gunged’ LIVE on TV on the 3rd to last ‘Noel’s House Party’ TV show in 1999.
  6. I met the ‘real’ Santa Claus in Lapland. I went in August and surprisingly it wasn’t busy in the queue.
  7. I have been in the audience of the Ricky Lake show in New York and enjoyed some ‘audience participation’.
  8. I know all the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest from 1956 to the present.
  9. I have met Kylie Minogue twice! The second time she came up to me and started small talk.
  10. I have two cats, Fudge and Cooper.
  11. In 1999 I flew around the Twin Towers in NYC in a helicopter.
  12. I was born in The Netherlands.
  13. I grew up in the UK
  14. I love the number 13 – Don’t ask me why…
  15. I’ve been on the boat into the mist at Niagara Falls.
  16. I have been to the Eurovision Song Contest four times (1998, 2000, 2001 and 2011).
  17. I attended the Premiere of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ at Leicester Square in 2000.
  18. I have blagged myself into events twice in my life. The first time was to the Charlie’s Angels Premiere after party. I used the pass of a guest who was leaving the party and gained entry. Luckily the doormen didn’t check too carefully as the picture and name was from a female guest. The second time I blagged entry was at the Eurovision in Sweden (2000). I said I worked for ‘Hello’ Magazine and flashed a friend’s press pass.

  26. Ewan McGregor bumped into me and nearly knocked my flying in a ski shop in France in 2006. I was really annoyed until I noticed who he was (swoon).
  27. I once dressed up as a 2-metre wide rainbow and took part in Luton Carnival. I was filmed by a TV news crew and always wish I hadn’t sounded so over-excited at the time. I saw myself on TV… It wasn’t a good look.

  29. I love the British Royal Family.

    • I started reading a pieceofthepiehole but coulddn’t find your list. I was reading a blog about how nice the blogger’s partner was, how kind he was etc and he does DIY etc and I thought how nice. Then I read a bit more and it said how this guy was the most special person in his life apart from his two daughters. And I thought, Bas sounds so lovely; but OMG Jamie and I have truly lost touch, he now has two daughters. I was reading this in awe for about 10 minutes until I realised it wasn’t your blog but some guy in America! how very funny!

      • Karl – take more care with your reading. Hahaha. Bas is indeed very lovely. Children – none yet! I’m glad you’re enjoying the whole blog thing. I’m still loving it.

  2. # 19….. Well done. I see lots of people do it by accident every time I ski.

#27…. I am sure I have a photo from when it was on the news online. I will find it and post it sometime soon. haha

  3. MY most listened to song on my iTunes is Fairytale too! And I have, too, aquired the annoying habit of nail-biting. I can ski backwards too. But I’m 14, and not however old you are. :L

    • Spooky! Alexander Rybak has got talent. Have you heard other songs by him too? ‘Europe Skies’, his follow up single (look on YouTube) is great too. Sounds very similar to Fairytale. You have some of my good and bad habits, I see.

Glad you enjoyed the blog – Thanks for visiting – Thanks for commenting (twice)… 🙂
