The doors of Brick Lane: London

10 02 2013

I enjoyed a weekend in London recently and decided to take a trip to Brick Lane in East London. I’d seen a television programme that week that was all about the history of the East End. I wanted to see it for myself – so went along to explore.

There was street art everywhere I looked. I went snap-happy with my camera and loved every moment. Here are some of the amazing doors I found!

Dancing Through Life

15 09 2012

So, my niece is also a blogger…. A recent discovery of mine, but one I want to share with my readers too.

Francesca is really keen on snapshots and photos – it’s quite different from my blog, but take a look and see what you think.

Read it here.

What did you think, guys?

Which bottle would you choose?

29 08 2012

While walking along one of the arty streets in The Hague (Den Haag) my attention was grabbed by a rather interesting window display.

Lots of water bottles were placed randomly throughout the window space, each with a different label.

Oh which one to drink?

Anyone fancy a swig of ‘sex’? How about some ‘chi’ to calm your inner self?

Which one would you like to try?

Run Mo, Run!

14 08 2012

I saw this website on Facebook earlier today. Mo Farah, the British athlete has created a storm of fans after winning two gold medals in the London 2012 Olympic Games. His expression at the end of his final race captured the imagination of some viewrs and inspired someone to create a website all about Mo.

It’s brilliant! you have to check it out.

Check out the brilliant website here ‘Mo Farah Running Away From Things’.

I wonder which other backgrounds he could be captured with… Suggestions?

How do you measure up?

4 08 2012

Discovered in Antwerp in Belgium.

I was just minding my own business and taking a little visit to the toilet when I walked in and saw this.

Okay – it made me laugh – out loud. It was quite tricky to concentrate while standing there.

Which one to stand at?

Another scary photo

30 01 2012

It’s only a couple of days since I posted a scary picture. Here’s another chiller. If you haven’t seen the last then this is worse, so much worse. You’ll never visit Grandma’s house again.

You’ve been warned.

Look at the picture. Just keep looking closely and then you’ll see something you weren’t counting on.

Not one for the kids. That’s unless you never want them to sleep again.

Did you just look over your shoulder?

Here’s the other one – just in case you’re hardcore and love being scared.

One scary photo

23 01 2012

Some images stay with you for a long time – and this one is no exception.

I saw this photo as it was passed around on Facebook. I had to ‘borrow’ it for my blog.

Take a look at the photo. It seems pretty normal – but – keep looking and when you spot it you’ll wish you hadn’t….

I got a chill when I noticed.

Don’t blame me when you’re freaked out!

Want more – Here’s another.

Planking: 10 things you didn’t need to know about it.

9 06 2011

Planking is a popular craze that has been sweeping the globe. Admittedly, it takes little or no talent to achieve, so it probably explains why it’s popular with idiots morons creative people students…… I really can’t decide (I think I’ll stick with idiots*). Here is my useless list of the 10 things you didn’t need to know about Planking.

What a planker!

  1. The game is also known as the Lying Down Game (how very imaginative). It does however describe the ‘game’ in a nutshell.
  2. How do you play? It is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body, and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the internet (preferably facebook.com) is an integral part of the game. [Definition taken from Wikipedia].
  3. It’s particularly popular in Australia and Asia. I have lots of readers over there. Hi guys, Do you all like Planking?
  4. I called them idiots* because on 15 May 2011, Acton Beale, a 20-year-old man, plunged to his death after reportedly “planking” on a seventh-floor balcony in Brisbane, Australia. He was the first known casuality of the Planking craze.
  5. Planking has it’s own website. Can you believe it? It really does and you can find it here.

    How did she get there?

  6. Social Networking is such a vital part of the craze. You can be part of the Planking Network if you feel like giving it a go.
  7. I have friends on Facebook who have tried Planking. I didn’t know whether to admit it – but it’s true. The question is….. Should I give it a go?
  8. Tumblr has a great selection of photographs of people Planking. Some really will make you laugh.
  9. It is claimed that the game, which has been described as “Parkour for those who can’t be arsed”, was invented by Gary Clarkson and Christian Langdon in 1997 and first became popular in North East England (That’s where I’m from – Oh the shame).
  10. I found another blog post about the craze. Worth a read. Here’s another great post about planking.

Viral Internet Crazes: Another crazy post about them here. You’ll be amazed.

A mysterious note.

I saw this and wanted to share it with you all. It really made me smile.

Freaky – yet – Funny!

A very well travelled bear.

6 03 2011
Wesley Bear

This is Wesley Bear. He is possibly one of the most well travelled bears in the world. For the last 11 years he has been part of my class. When I started training to be a teacher I bought adopted Wesley (He was already named).

Helping in the kitchen

When I got my first class (4 year olds) - We called it ‘Reception class’ then - I introduced Wesley Bear to the class bear. Each and every weekend he would (and still does) go home with one of the children. (A great reward for good behaviour).

Wesley goes sailing (One of the mums made a lifejacket for him)

The children in the class, and in all the classes that I have taught, have fallen in love with Wesley Bear. They cannot wait to have their turn to look after him.

He’s been taken on some wonderful trips around the world. There are times that I wish I could swap places with my teddy so that I could travel in his place. (I wish). The idea is for the children to look after him and to show him wonderful sights around the world. They take photographs, send postcards back to the school and add a little stamp to his passport. He’s been on more that 100 trips abroad!

Wesley in San Marino

After 11 years of travelling around the world with the children in my classes, with family and friends and with colleagues, I have quite a collection of photos. The children love to look at them and it provides a wonderful tool for exploring holidays and travel in class.

Just a couple of Wesley's holiday snaps!

He’s met dolphins in Israel, camels in the Canary Islands, lizards and seals in the Galapagus Islands and enjoyed Champagne in France! Oh what a life for a bear!

This shows where Wesley Bear has been taken since March 6th 2000.

This beats my map of world travel.

One of the best parts is listening to the children when they bring Wesley Bear back to school. They are alive with enthusiasm and are eager to tell stories of what he’s been up to. Some of the children tell me that Wesley has been naughty, he’s made their bedrooms a mess or that he’s had a holiday romance. Oh yes, I’ve heard a lot.

My favourite picture.
